Job Description

MEAC\SWAC Challenge Intern

Works with the Executive Director to develop and manage the MEAC/SWAC Challenge and ancillary events. Implements event management and operation models, event marketing and sales strategies, and coordinates on-site and remote event operations.

Please note this internship will be based in Charlotte, NC. The intern will travel the week of the MEAC/SWAC Challenge to St. Petersbrug, FL to work the event.

Responsibilities
Arena/Site Management - works with the local/on-site event staff to coordinate several aspects of the event including ticket distribution, team practices, volunteer operations and participant/sponsor hospitality. Contract Management - involved in maintaining a working database of stadium/site, participant and corporate sponsor contracts. Participant Fulfillment - coordinates participant contract fulfillment including team and individual practices, ticket allocation, sales and distribution, on-site hospitality and participant gifts. Event Development – involvement in the creation, research and implementation of new events. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
You must be currently matriculating within a degree program and in good academic standing; available for employment within 12 months of the internship. *Intern must be able to provide his/her own housing and transportation to and from work*

Preferred Qualifications
Current student at a MEAC or SWAC institution. Graduate student preferred. Computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is important.

Required Education
You must be currently matriculating within a degree program and in good academic standing; available for employment within 12 months of the internship.
