Mobile Art Director Digital Media

Responsibilities
Advocate for excellent user experiences within ESPN mobile products Coordinate with the Digital Media Design team to maintain an optimal user experience across platforms Participates in hiring or recommending freelance artists and designers as needed and manages these resources Collaborate with and drive the initiatives of third party design partners, managing design deliverables, budgets and resource allocations across products Apply ingenuity, creativity and analytical and organizational skills to identify solutions for advertisers that coexist with engaging content and a satisfying user experience Follow, apply and redefine ESPN Digital Design standards to mobile products and helps set new standards as platforms, screens and devices evolve Work closely with our TV production design teams to evolve digital and mobile designs Manages multiple projects, produces design while managing other designers Proven record of managing designers in a fast paced environment Able to lead consistent design vision across multiple projects Can lead a team through mentoring and leading by example Proven track record of leading change and improving the performance of teams Can create a positive environment for long-term growth of business and people

Basic Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of experience working within the field of interactive media design, and possess the following characteristics: Demonstrated record of creating cutting-edge and original design solutions on tight deadlines Demonstrated experience and series of successes solving complex user experiences Sensitive to user behavior as it relates to design – must have a deep appreciation of how news, video and sports information are best presented on mobile devices, including tablets Self-motivated, a natural problem-solver, and a good communicator with a demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, both independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Expert facility with design software, e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash, Actionscript 2.0, css based page construction. Some After Effects knowledge desired. Must be MAC and PC literate Solid understanding of practical benefits and limitations of Internet technologies (Flash, javascript, css, video.) Intimate knowledge of HTML and CSS, understanding how comps translate to code with the ability to develop both HTML and CSS solutions Effective team leader and player Demonstrated track record as an art director or lead designer in an agency or content site with responsibility for ad solutions Demonstrated understanding of the mechanics, contents and operating philosophy of all ESPN mobile products, including an understanding of the optimal experience for a sports fan on mobile web, apps, messaging and video

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts or Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience
