Job Description

Project Associate Development Engineer

This project employee will work on refining and enhancing a suite of internally developed video publishing tools that are currently in use for our Digital Media products. Specifically, the engineer will extend the suite to accommodate our expanding video distribution workflows, refine the currently deployed tools to accommodate new features, add functionality to accommodate our syndicated distributions, and build resiliency into the overall process.

This is a project position with an estimated length of 2.5 years.

Responsibilities
Responsible for design and implementation of components planned for and specified by the project manager. Assists engineers in the design phases of project development, improvement of existing systems, equipment procurement requirements specification, and complex systems implementation. Generates all documentation required to support and operate project products including proper documentation of code and assistance in the authorship or primary authorship of supporting project documentation Collaborates with other team members and stakeholders to revise requirements during the execution of the project to adapt to changing environmental conditions and to incorporate experimentally informed design revisions. Interfaces with equipment manufacturers and vendors regarding technical equipment designs and evaluates equipment to be purchased. Develops a high level of technical proficiency through review of trade journals and publications, contacts with manufacturers, membership in professional associations and attendance at conventions and seminars. Responsible for follow-up and resolution of technically related problems through direct communication with other ESPN departments and outside companies. May be assigned special projects as needed Participates in regular reviews of project performance with supervisors Provide support to our technical operations staff as necessary.

Basic Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding and hands-on experience with the following: Java 6 EE Apache/Tomcat or other enterprise servlet container implementations HTML/CSS/JavaScript SQL GWT Toolkit JAXB + XML / JSON + net.sf.json-lib Web Services (JAX-RS, JAX-WS) HTML5 Oracle SQL Experience (PL/SQL) JMS/MQ
