Job Description

Production Systems Administrator

The Production Systems Support Group is responsible for the maintenance, administration and support of all Production Systems, IT (Data) and Transmission systems in the Longhorn Network facility in Austin, Texas. The personnel complement will include experienced IT systems administrators as well as experienced Television Production systems engineers and will have a very strong emphasis on knowledge development and cross training of and by the specialists in each. In this way the TX facility will maintain expert knowledge but benefit from the efficiencies of a combined support effort.

ESPN has entered an agreement with The University of Texas and IMG College to develop, launch and operate a year-round, 24-hour network dedicated to UT. The network, scheduled to launch in September 2011, will offer a variety of content, highlighted by more than 200 exclusive events annually from numerous sports, original series and studio shows, historical programming and academic and cultural happenings. Additionally, an on-line broadband companion to the TV network will offer extensive content, particularly events not featured on the linear TV network due to simultaneous events or other overlapping programming.

Responsibilities
Focuses on IT service delivery and support Provides assistance with the implementation, project management and user support of personal computing system projects Participates in the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Longhorn Network’s Austin based production systems in support of all TV production, IT and transmission operations Participates in the planning, operation, upkeep and maintenance of the infrastructure to run ESPN’s business Assists with the administration of the infrastructure; participates in performing or performs upgrades to system hardware and software; coordinates with vendors on moves and re-locations of services In depth knowledge of the production center’s operations and how they support both the UT complex and TV and internet distribution. Work with ESPN and freelance personnel as the situation demands.

Basic Qualifications
Strong knowledge of personal computing hardware and software, commonly used operating systems (client and server), Terminal Server, Citrix, DHCP, Active Directory and Internet protocols, Strong knowledge of client/server networking, routers and switches (managed and unmanaged), TCP/IP, Ethernet cabling, fiber-optic technologies Basic knowledge of trends, technology advances, new products, and best practices in production, transmission and broadcast operations. 4 years of experience with personal computers, networked systems or another IT related field with some exposure to broadcast related technologies Some travel may be required as necessary.

Preferred Education
BSCS or other relevant degree preferred.
